Barebones CV

Kate Hamilton works in the Mid-Hudson Valley and New York City.  She explores the nature of clothing through design, sculpture and costume.  Her hats and clothes have sold internationally.  She has designed costumes for art performances, dance, opera and theater in New York, Berlin and Zurich.  Her sculpture has been shown in New York and the greater New York area.  Kate was born with a caul.

2018            On the Verge; Blink St. Ann’s School, Brooklyn. Interactive installation with film projections and original music, live and canned. Collaboration with Jon Elliott, composer and Deborah Dobsky, filmmaker.

2018             I Dream I am You Public Art, Commissioned by Albany International    Airport, Albany, NY

2015           O+Festival ‘The Other’s Other’.  Interactive big garment installation.  Collaboration with Tona Wilson, videographer.  Kingston, NY.

2014          Micro-Festival of Unfinished Puppetry, Trois Rivieres, Quebec.  ‘It’s a Big World in There’, an interactive installation of kinetic sculpture, projections and sound.  A collaboration with artists Tona Wilson (video) and Jonathan Elliott (sound).

2014           C H R C H Project Space, Cottekill, NY.   First showing for It’s a Big World in There’. At the space in which it was born!

2013           La Voix Humaine Collaboration with Valerie Arias (Mezzo Soprano) on Poulenc/Cocteau telephonic Opera.  Directed by Claudia Blersch, Musical Director Giancarlo Prossimo.  Creation of set and costumes, including a very large shirt. Rigiblick Theater, Zurich.

2013           DaDa Spill  Collaboration with Marian Schoettle: staged in the mine at the Snyder Estate, Rosendale, NY.  With the help of 20 contributors/performers, this was a DaDa set of happenings (and the play Wrench!) considering mines, document storage and the state of life today.

2012           Wrench   A theatrical collaboration: written by Elana Greenfield, with props and costumes by K Hamilton. Direction by Charlotte Meehan of Sleeping Weazels.  Factory Theater, Boston, MA.
